3 keys to BYU victory at 81-49 Oregon No. 12

In his first match against the national team this season, BYU shocked Oregon No. 12 81-49 on Tuesday night at the Moda Center in Portland. This was the program’s first win among the top 15 teams since the 2020 victory at No. 2 Gonzaga.

Here are three keys to BYU’s victory:

• Cougars created an early lead in the first half and did not give up. BYU fired 16/28 from the floor in the first 20 minutes while keeping Ducks at 5/25. The Cougars led 37-18 at halftime. BYU led by as many as 33 in the second half.

• Guard Alex Barcello knocked down the first eight shots on the field, ending his 9/11 career record with 25 points. Guard Te’Jon Lucas added 12 points.

• Freshman Fousseyni Traore made a big impression with 10 points and six rebounds before he was injured in the last minute of the game. The Cougars won the Ducks 35-25.
