The Grove Junior Team has announced that it has signed two rising drivers to join its development program.

Oscar Targett, 15, and Mika LeMasurier, 13, join Matthew Payne, 19, in the Kelly Grove Racing operation.

Stephen Grove and son Brenton Grove, as well as Craig Baird, Supercars Driving Standards Advisor, and Gavan Wills, Commercial Director of Kelly Grove Racing, formed the selection committee.

The five drivers selected for the future were evaluated and interviewed to understand where their passions lie and their values, fitness and aspirations according to the team.

Targett and LeMasurier have both been prominent in karting.

“I’m very excited, Brenton and Stephen have encouraged me a lot today to pursue my career in all areas,” Targett said.

“They run an awesome team here and are very willing to help me and all the other people they plan to include in the Grove Junior Team program.

“I think their help will help me all the time, not just in the next phase of my career, but throughout my career and hopefully all the way to Supercars.”

LeMasurier added: “I am extremely humble to have this opportunity at such a young age.

“I am proud to represent the Grove Junior Team. I am very excited to be selected for the team alongside Oscar and Matt.

“I am ready to learn and grow with the team and look forward to becoming the best driver I can be to advance my career in motorsport.

“Thank you Stephen, Brenton, Gavan and Craig for believing in me.”

The couple’s competition programs have yet to be confirmed, although team boss Stephen Grove said he was excited to work with the talent in the future.

“It’s exciting to identify, support and develop young children into the program, so getting the two of them is a big source of pride,” Grove said.

“There’s a three-year difference between the drivers, so each junior’s ability to learn from each other is another advantage in setting up the program.

“We are very pleased with our selection and look forward to supporting their competition program for 2022 and beyond.”
