Fluids have closed highways between Kamloops and the mainland, and Christians’ “running food purchases” take place locally.

There were noticeable configurations in Costco, and the product and meat departments have been cleaned up at several grocery stores.

Something similar happened at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Christian called it a “delivery disruption” where there was a shortage of certain products, but said substitute products were available. He said eastern Canada continues to support the city’s supply chain and Vancouver has been cut off from Kamloops – not the other way around.

“There are now buses and buses in our community. All available facilities are in use for transportation, which shows me that the supply chain from Eastern Canada to Kamloops is working well, ”Christian said.

“So let’s be patient with the kind of extensive repairs that are needed on the major transport routes from Kamloops to the mainland, and use common sense about the kind of purchases we make.”
